I brought back many things from Buffalo to Rwanda, but the most important were gifts from Marie from St. Teresa’s, whose brother lives in Kigali, and Pascoe, whose mom works for the Peace Corps. Here is Theophila and her daughter and Athenase with the gifts that their family members sent them.
They were so happy to receive the gifts and happy that I could deliver them!

This is Marie, my friend from St. Teresa’s. She is originally form Rwanda and works as a nurse here in Buffalo. Her brother who lives in Kigali asked me to bring her back some things. She was happy to get kitenge fabric and a calabash that is used for decoration and drinking.
One of the good things about living in Rwanda is that it gets me away from my sweet tooth American diet. In the 13 weeks I’ve been there, I’ve lost 23 pounds (a little over 10 kilograms). Feels great!!
Beauty is everywhere in Rwanda…Here is a flower outside my door at Centre Christus in Kigali.
